Well...here's the current countdown for those of you keeping up with my procrastination.
1 more day of Practicum (yes!), I already got my grade and I received an A (of course)
1 more Action Research Class - poster presentation, post final paper
And ta da---we have a master's.
It looks easy, but it's really not. It doesn't help that I've gotten up on the wrong side of the bed two days in a row now. I don't really understand why...but it's just how things are, I guess.
I'm having to take a BIST class this week (behavior intervention support team). It's fine, but feels like a bit of a waste of my time. I think this is because I'm having to keep the partying to the minimum so that I can get up early the next morning and do the work thing. That's probably what sucks the most. I'm ready for summer!!

TGIF

The countdown:
2 more days of Practicum
1 more Action Research class, 1 more part of a paper to post, 1 action research study to create, and 1 poster presentation
1 practicum exit interview
The end is near!! The most exciting thing is that I went and bought my regalia yesterday. So I have my cap, gown, tassle, robe, and hood. It's so exciting. I'm going to try to put an image on here...but lately I've been very computer illiterate, so it might not happen. I'm not actually walking in a ceremony, but I thought I needed the appropriate dress for the big party. And, I want pictures and stuff. Plus, it'll be nice to have to show my kids.
I am so amazed at how many people actually read the crap I put on here. THANKS! Since I've started this, I've heard from more and more people that I haven't talked to in a while. It's been nice to get back into the swing of communication.
I'm looking for some hobbies to start. I am going to take my hobby of losing weight and excercising back up. Hopefully, I can lose some of my master's/DTA stress weight. But any other suggestions for hobbies, let me know!! I'm going to have quite a bit of time on my hands.
So, TGIF!! I'm headed to Witchita today to hang out with the bands, Journey and 38 Special. Does anyone remember them??? Actually I'm going to see my roommate, Chrissy, who coincidentally is working a concert tonight with Journey and 38 Special so I really will get to hang out with them. Then tomorrow I think I'll be heading to see my friends Sam and Robert. They just bought a new house! And sometime in all that, I have to finish the Action Research crap.

Pajamas
After a night of crazy nightmares (too much court tv, and it doesn't help when you sleep with it on), I am sitting here in my practicum screaming inside for my pajamas and a good movie. I really want to be on my couch with my favorite quilt and a good funny movie. Teaching is not in the stars for me today. And then I have class...so it'll be till later when I get to the pj's and movie. Such a shame. It's a perfect rainy day for it too.
So crazy nightmares......I will elaborate on one of them. I was dreaming about something, you know a place with people doing something....and then I heard through my dream my room mate calling help. I kept trying to find her in my dream. She kept calling help, are you there? and I kept saying yeah....what's wrong, where are you? So my dream turned into this crazy maze of where is my roommate until I heard her loud and clear from outside my dream (does anyone understand any of this?) So I woke up, put on some clothes and go over to her room, where she is sleeping soundly. When I get back to my room, Court TV is showing a Forensic File on a couple that was murdered by a male/female duo that used the female to get inside. She would go up to the house and yell help, are you there? so that someone would come to the door. (See where this is going) Then the duo would kill them. So no more court tv while sleeping for a while. I'm sure it was the reason for all the crazy nightmares. It makes me tired just thinking about it.
The countdown is pretty much the same except 5 more days of practicum. I'm still working on a few things and can't cross anything off just yet. That will come tomorrow.
Anyway, if anyone wants to come over and watch movies later today, just give me a call.

FANTASTIC NEWS!
I vowed not to rant on here about DTA, but I need to give you some background. Since I had to do this practicum, I wasn't able to work summer school. I ended up not signing my contract for next year because I got a job in the Center School District. Since I didn't sign my contract and I wasn't working there at the present time (I used up my sick days and got leave of absence) they terminated me. This is totally legal, I wasn't working there and they would have to replace me for next year anyhow. However, they didn't tell me (NOT LEGAL!!). So I found out because I went to Osco to pick up prescriptions and did not have insurance. Yahdda Yadda. I called Center today to see when I would have insurance and get paid and found out that I have insurance on the first day I start which is the 9th of August. I get paid once a month starting on the 25th of August!!!! All fantastic news! I'm so excited to be going to a normal school district where the teachers matter. YAY!!
Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Hump Day
Wednesday is always the longest day to me. But I'm always glad for it because I only have two days until the weekend.
I am going to purchase my cap, gown, and hood today. Even though I don't get to walk, I will be wearing it at my graduation party. REMINDER: July 30, 2005 at my house in the evening.
So, it's summer and I'm sick (I really thought I had allergies). I've been eating cold pills and trying every remedy I can think of. I'm feeling much better today due to the magic of Nyquil.
The allergy suggestions were great and worked well.
Bonnie's blessing: My friend James came back from out of town and is fine.
Bonnie's other blessing: COLD MEDICINE, it makes me feel like I'm part of the fantastic 4

Hangover Tuesday
I do not suggest binge drinking on a Monday night. I do suggest going out with friends and meeting new people, seeing people you know, and enjoying yourself to the fullest.
Thought: You know the people that stand on the corners with the cardboard signs that say stuff like--Homeless Vet, anything helps God Bless. There are also the people that stand on the corners or in the middle of the street looking for donations for churches or football teams. The ones that really get me are the women that stand on the medians asking for donations for a woman's domestic violence shelter. I firmly believe that this sort of behavior should be illegal. So yesterday while I was waiting to turn onto the Broadway Bridge. I had a thought. What if I stood on the corner with a cardboard sheet that said: I have a job. Save your hard earned money and spend it on yourself. I think I came up with something a bit wittier than that yesterday, but the point is still there. I thought, if I could get enough people to do that then maybe we could start lobbying for a law that made that sort of behavior illegal.
Anyway.....maybe I'll start that up next year when I have a ton of time on my hands.
So.....Here's the countdown.
11 more days of Practicum, 1 reflection paper, 5 final student reports, 6 lesson plans, 1 teacher survey, 3-4 charts of reactions to teacher's survey
3 more Action Research classes, 3 more parts of a paper to post, 1 action research study to create, and 1 poster presentation
1 exit interview, 1 practicum exit interview
to graduation.

Summer Allergies
My friend from Iowa said, "the corn tassled this weekend." So that is what I'm blaming all these allergies on. Gosh, I feel like crap.
Teaching does not sound apetizing (can't figure out how to spell this word and the spellcheck isn't working, and I'm too lazy to use m-w.com) today. I only have 12 more days to my practicum left and three weeks to graduation.
So I guess the countdown has started.
If anyone has a cure for summer allergies, please let me know.

TGIF
This Friday really snuck up on me. But I am so glad it's Friday. I have a lot of things to accomplish this weekend. I was just writing down a list of stuff to do. I think it is all accomplishable if I put my mind to it. I am going to try and get up early on Saturday to make some more time for myself.
So, my friend, James..... He left for New Orleans on last Friday and I haven't heard from him since. I think he might of got lost. Or maybe he is really enjoying himself. I don't know...but if anyone reads this and knows James and has talked to him in the last week, please let me know he is alive and all right.
It is the end of week 3 of my practicum. That is exciting because there are only like 2 weeks and three days left!! YAY! I can't wait for this all to be over. Master Bonnie, here I come.
I went to see Shakespeare in the part last night. It was fantastic. They did Much Ado About Nothing and it was hilarious. (I am sure the bottle of wine helped) Thanks to Jeni for going and enjoying that with me. If anyone wants to go before the season is out, I'm available!!
Okay...so I don't have much money this summer. I'm really having to cut down on the spending of money. I have been eating at home (Jeni is nice enough to cook :D) and I have been avoiding all shopping. I think this is how summer is going to be, friends. So invite me to all things free.
Has anyone ever tried a high fiber diet? Does it work to lose weight?
Bonnie's blast: Graduation Party on July 30th, around 4pm at my house. Everyone and friends welcome.
Have a fantastic weekend!

TGIF
I am so happy for the 3 day weekend! It is much needed. I have so many things going on. My biggest accomplishment this week is I had dinner by myself at a very nice restaurant. Not only was I by myself but I also did not have my phone, nor anything to read. Thanks to my friends for standing me up and enabling me to check this goal off.
It was the last day for DTA on Wednesday. We don't have to go there anymore. It's over. finally. I wasn't invited back for the celebrations, so I celebrated myself on my own. It's always a fantastic day when you can celebrate yourself. They did save me a big marble to mark my second year there. Of course when Marti gave it to Chrissy she said, "this is for steen, I don't know whether she'll even want it." Well, Marti, I worked my ass off for your school, yes I want it. I earned that big marble. Cheers to DTA! Here's a double eagle to you....(reference sex in the city)
So, I just finally finished all the writing of my portfolio, now all I have to do is scan documents in and submit it. When is it due you ask??? TODAY!! I am such a procrastinator.
I cannot tell you how many times I will mention that I will be finished with my Master's at the end of July. I cannot wait for the day that I know I will graduate and be finished. I am looking forward to no homework and free evenings.
Bonnie's boast: At least 3 times, maybe more and it was the best as it always is.

Oh, where has my summer gone?
I had a fantastic weekend! Boating, tubing, shopping, friends, drinks, and good food....there is nothing more you can ask for.
I'm sitting in the computer lab at my practicum school, desperately trying to finish my portfolio. I am really unmotivated to do it. Obviously, I'm writing a blog rather than doing it.
Bonnie's best: next summer at this time I will be touring Europe and enjoying the fact that I have my master's.

TGIF
Thank GOD it's Friday! This week has been a long one. I'm going out of town this weekend to relax and hang with my gals. I'm also looking forward to shopping, getting some sun, and eating some homecooked food.
**I imagine until the end of July, most of my blog will be about college. Sorry for this but it seems to be taking over my life until the day I will be, Master Steen**
I am finishing up my portfolio as I type. I should have it done by today, but I won't actually scan it in until early next week. All this busy work is just too much!
Today is the last day of school at the DTA. I am going to swing by and see some of the kiddos. It's weird to think I will really be done with the DTA sometime next week.
Bonnie's Blissful Bonus: It is a fantastic day when all three rooommates emerge from their bedrooms wearing the same thing.

How long will I keep this up?
So my friend, Alicia started a blog for herself. I am hooked on it and decided I needed to start one of my own. I don't have a lot of time right now, so this will be an easy way to communicate to people that I have just lost communication with. I feel that it is always hard to get back into the swing of people because they just aren't in your everyday life anymore....well...I think I've found the cure!
I'm going to really try and keep this up, but if you want to make bets I totally understand. I'll even bet on myself in the betting pool. (i might win though)
So--here's what's going on: I am finishing up my masters this summer by teaching a practicum, taking a class, and publishing a portfolio. That's 9 hours and a portfolio. It's not so bad since I'm not teaching at the Derrick Thomas Academy (DTA). I feel less stressed than I have in a long time. I'm actually enjoying myself.
Bonnie's Daily Beef: I am paying to work somewhere. For practicum we pay for 6 hours and teach at an alternative school in KCMO. I paid somewhere around 6K to work from 7:30-1:00 everyday. I feel that is INSANE!!
