It's a good feeling when...

the beer fridge is FULL!

what has 8 legs and makes me scream??

Spiders....frikin spiders comin' out of my pillow! I screamed so loud that I figured the neighbors would come over. But they didn't-go figure.

So I stayed up most of the night, every little thing seemed like a spider to me. And if ya know me, you know that I HATE spiders. I can't kill them because I am so very scared of them. So today I declared war. I sprayed the inside of my house with SEVIN. And then spread granules around the house. While I was spreading the granules, a big fat spider (bigger than a half dollar, no kidding) crawled up the side of the house. I hope they all die. They need to die if I am going to ever sleep again. I wouldn't even care if I had to go around the house and sweep up the spider carcuses.

So we'll see what happens. Thanks to b for answering the phone at 11:30 at night and listening to me cry about this house and all my frustrations with it.

On a more positive/happier note, tomorrow is the last day of summer school. No working until August 14, I believe. Thank god I"m a teacher....I get that one month off during the summer. It's so worth it.

well....have a good Thursday evening.

Super-fn-movie

Superman Returns is the absolute best movie I have seen in a year or so. Honest to God, I haven't seen a movie that good in a while. Of course, everyone needs to go see it and decide for themselves.

Ignorance vs. Laziness

Let me ask you this, as a special education teacher, is it my job to accept laziness as ignorance? Is it my job to allow my students to continue to blame their laziness on their stupidity? And where did they get the idea that they were stupid? Who allowed them to believe that they were stupid and 'couldn't do it'?

I cannot tolerate laziness in my classroom. Nor can I tolerate the fact that my students have been molded to believe they couldn't do it, that they weren't capable.

To all those who have procreated:
Please fight against the tolerance of laziness, teach your child to excercise, teach your child that they have to do the work, teach your child that they can do the work. Don't become lazy yourselves, you won't do the job you 'signed up' to do as a parent. Thus failure, and none of my friends/family are failures, I don't tolerate it.

*please note I laughed out loud after I wrote the final sentence above*

Anyway....Let me tell you what I have completed today: I worked and fought against the ever growing laziness epidemic, I went to Lowes, I bought an airconditioner and a pantry, I installed an airconditioner, I put together my new pantry.
It's been an amazing day. My new airconditioner is going to be worth its weight in gold.

getting settled

First things first - meet Maggie...the absolute cutest dog in the world. She is also the best dog in the world. She is my dog.

Now back to the blog---
Who settles? People moving in, people moving on, and people who are comfortable.

Well..I'm settling into my new house. It's got it's moments of pure satisfaction and pure boredom. I'm finding that I'm doing things I would never have done before like yard work and fixing things and figuring out my money situation. Creating a budget, knowing exactly how much money I have. I have turned into a total new person....or just pretending to be an adult. I can assure it's just the latter.

The exciting part of my life: I'll be going to San Francisco and Chicago in July!!! Two of the best cities in the US. I'm very happy for a vacation. Plus, it backs up the reason for me getting a masters. I want to travel in the summer and by god, I will.

Anyhow, I'm going to do better at writing on here so start looking again....I don't have much exciting to say, but I'll try to put in some uplifting stuff and more cute pics of Mag!
